Batch edit tokens

When configuring a batch edit template, PowerPhotos provides a number of tokens that can be added to the template that let you insert pieces of information about a photo into the new title or caption that is being assigned to that photo. Below is a list of the tokens PowerPhotos provides and how they work

Filename/title

These tokens allow you to include the photo’s original filename or its existing title as part of the new title/caption you’re assigning to your photos.

  • Filename: Inserts the photo’s original filename, without the file extension. For example, if a photo’s filename was “IMG_1234.JPG”, this would insert the text “IMG_1234”.
  • Title: Inserts the photo’s current title, if it has one. This can be useful if you want to add text to the title your photo already has.
  • Title or filename: If the photo has a title assigned, then this will insert the photo’s title, otherwise it will fall back to inserting the filename instead.
  • File extension: Inserts the photo’s file extension, e.g. “JPG”, “PNG”, etc. This does not include the “.” between the filename and extension, so if you want that included, type “.” into the template field.
  • Counter: This is an incrementing counter that will insert a different number to each photo’s title, starting at 1 for the first photo and counting upwards. If you want to have your count padded with a specific number of zeroes, click the token and choose your padding option from the menu that comes up, e.g. selecting “0001” will pad the number to 4 digits.

Attributes

These tokens insert various attributes of the photo as part of the new title/caption.

  • Caption: Inserts the photo’s existing caption, if it has one.
  • Keywords: Inserts the photo’s keywords, separated by commas.
  • *Height: Inserts the photo’s height in pixels
  • Width: Inserts the photo’s width in pixels.

Date tokens

These tokens let you insert components of one of the dates associated with the photo. The dates available are:

  • Date Captured: This is the date that the photo was originally taken, and is the date used for sorting when you browse through the photos in your library.
  • Date Added: This is the date that the photos was added to the Photos library. This is very often the same as the capture date, e.g. when you take a photo on your iPhone, and it is immediately added to your library. In some cases it can be different from the capture date, such as files imported from the Finder or copied from another library.
  • Current Date: This is the current date at the time you’re performing the batch edit.

For each date, you can insert individual components of the date, including the year, month, day, weekday (e.g. “Tuesday”), or time. Each component has different display options available that can be found by clicking on the token and selecting from the menu that appears. For example, for month you can chose from “Sep”, “September”, “9”, or “09”, and so forth.
