iPhoto Metadata
iPhoto not only allows you to collect and organize your photos, but also allows you to assign several different types of metadata to your photos, information that's not part of the photos themselves. One of the main advantages of using iPhoto Library Manager when you want to transfer pictures from one library to another is that it will also copy the photos' metadata to the new library in the process.
The list of metadata that iPhoto Library Manager can copy is:
- Photos: name, comment, rating, date, and keywords
- Albums: name, photos, and comment
- Rolls: name, photos, date, and comment
The following types of data cannot be transferred using iPhoto Library Manager:
- Albums: slideshow settings, photo sort order
- Folder albums (except in iPhoto 7), smart albums, web galleries, books, and slideshows
- Edited versions of RAW photos
